Caring for the elderly

In 1800 Hove was a little fishing village of about one hundred people.  The growth of its neighbour Brighton, as a result of royal patronage, the new fashion for sea bathing, and the arrival of the railway with a direct line to London, was all important factors in the development of Hove.

Today Hove is a modern town of broad avenues and tidy streets.  One of these magnificent broad avenues is The Drive where Regent House is located.  Regent House Nursing Home has been converted from two detached houses linked together.

The home has 30 bedrooms of different sizes (see overleaf) all rooms are en-suite.  A nurse call systems is fitted in all bedrooms, as well as a television and telephone.  A three-person shaft lift provides easy access to upstairs bedrooms.

There is a large lounge with a television and music systems.  There are two dining areas. Each floor has a little kitchenette so drinks and light snacks can be provide at any time day or night.  Our service users families and friends are encouraged to ‘help themselves’ to tea and coffee.  The home has a large garden, which is easy to access; it is used by many of our residents.
